Let's repeat my question: "what was the specific business reason offered for moving from a successful N/D implementation to a Microsoft platform?"
Your answer "...in the original case on this thread it was down to Microsoft persuading the hierarchy that their products were better.... What does better mean? Better in the eyes of the decision makers, they can have whatever criteria they want, it probably varies for each case."
So we have no specific answer to the question of "why move from a successful implementation?"
Either the implementation wasn't successful, or Microsoft offered some new value. If so, what was it? Or there was no business reason to make the move at all, and there was some other motive.
Those are the choices. You can't just wave your hand and say "they sold it better." What did they sell?
It's like if I ask you why birds fly south in the winter and you say "instinct." You didn't explain anything. (Not you personally, Don... just whoever is trying to answer.)
